Western Confluence magazine recently published an interview with Dr. Tony Sinclair and Dr. Arthur Middleton on bridging migration ecology across continents.1 The interview, conducted by Gina Guy Center Co-Director Temple Stoellinger, discussed Sinclair’s and Middleton’s introduction to the field of migration ecology, the biggest threats they see to migratory species today, and the most important breakthroughs they have experienced or contributed to in large-landscape conservation.2
The issue of managing and conserving large landscapes will be the focus of an upcoming conference held by the Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources on Oct. 1-2, 2025, at the Snow King Resort in Jackson, Wyoming.3
This conference will focus on wildlife management in large landscapes across the globe “in the context of biophysical and socioeconomic change, in collaboration with Indigenous and local communities, to address human-wildlife conflict, and across jurisdictional boundaries.”4 Specifically, the conference will focus on the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, South American Amazon Basin, Scandinavian Sápmi, African Savannah, European Alps, and Mongolian Gobi Desert.5
Registration for the conference will open in January 2025.
