Services for Diane Courselle

It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our dear friend and colleague, Diane Courselle. Professor Courselle passed away on Sunday, September 11th, 2016 after a lengthy illness.

Professor Courselle served as a Professor at the College of Law for 18 years and ran the Defender Aid Program. She was extremely passionate about her work, always believing that people deserve a second chance, and continuously represented those in need that could not help themselves. The loss of Professor Courselle leaves a great hole in the faculty and the heart of the law school. She will be greatly missed by her current and former students, colleagues and friends.

A memorial service has been finalized for Professor Courselle this week in Saugerties, New York. There will be visitation hours at Seamon-Wilsey Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 20, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 21, at 11:00 am at Trinity Episcopal Church in Saugerties. There will be a reception at the parish hall next to Trinity Episcopal Church following the service.

Expressions of condolence may be shared with the family at SeamonWilseyFuneralHome.com. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Rocky Mountain Innocence Center, rminnocence.org or Voice of the Wetlands, voiceofthewetlands.org. These projects were near and dear to Diane and we would like help them in any way we can.

The College of Law will also be holding a service of remembrance for Professor Courselle in mid-October.  Details on the memorial will be forthcoming as we finalize time and location. Additionally, the College of Law is setting up an endowed fund for the Defender Aid Program, to ensure that the program is immortalized at the College and pays tribute to Professor Courselle’s memory.
