Professor Pignataro's research interests include all that encompasses Latina/o Chicana/o Diaspora Studies, Literature and Culture; Mexican American Studies; LGBTQA Identites; U.S. Latino Immigration; Visual Art and Culture; Media; Theater and Performance.

She also incorporated Civilizations of the U.S Southwest; Afro-Hispanic Caribbean Poetry; Indigenous Studies; U.S. Latina/o Religious Hybridity and Asian Latina/o Literature and Documentaries in her courses.

Teaching: Latina/o Popular Culture, Intro to Latina/o Studies, U.S. Latina Writers, Intro to Latino Literature, Mexican American Literature, Perspectives in Chicana Studies, Chicano Folklore
