Of the 16 graduates from the University of Wyoming/Casper College (UW/CC) Center Social Work Program, 10 are employed in their field at local social service agencies in Casper and six have been admitted into graduate degree programs at UW or Walla Walla University.
"It is tremendously exciting and gratifying to have successful students," says Tisa Sucher, assistant lecturer of social work at the UW/CC Center. The graduates are employed at various agencies, including Natrona County Senior Center, Mercer House, Seton House, the Department of Family Services, Self Help Center and Probation and Parole.
"Social work graduates have several career options. They can choose to work in health, gerontology, corrections and criminal justice, child welfare, mental health, education or substance abuse. Those options are just one of the many reasons that this field is such a viable one to get into," says Sucher.
"Finding a career that one finds meaningful and contributes to the well-being of others is -- thankfully -- important to many people," says Brent Pickett, associate dean and director of the UW/CC Center.
Social work promotes economic and social justice. The National Association of Social Work (NASW) enforces a code of ethics, which guides professional standards in practice.
The UW/CC Center Social Work Program is part of the UW Division of Social Work in the College of Health Sciences, and is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
"Individuals who enjoy helping others, and who want to be challenged in a rewarding field that is in high-demand, should consider the Social Work Program at the UW/CC Center," says Sucher.
