UWPD Statement on Burglary Investigation

University of Wyoming Police Chief Troy Lane issued the following statement following the arrest of a suspect in a burglary that allegedly occurred on campus Dec. 25:

"On Thursday, Dec. 25, at about 9:30 a.m., UW police responded to the north side of McWhinnie Hall on the UW campus in reference to an anonymous report of a broken window there. Upon arrival the officer noticed the broken window and called for assistance.

"Officers located and arrested Francisco A. Brown, 3655 North 13th St., Laramie. It appeared that Brown had sustained injuries to his face that he later stated happened prior to his arrest, and he was transported to Ivinson Memorial Hospital for medical treatment. He was later released to police custody and booked into the Albany County Detention Center on charges of burglary.

"Investigation revealed that prior to breaking into McWhinnie Hall, Brown as attempted to gain entry into the UW Student Union and Half Acre gym but was unsuccessful. Investigation is on-going."
