Applications are now being accepted for the University of Wyoming's Engineering Summer Program (ESP), which runs from June 21-27 at UW. Applications are due by March 27.
Sponsored by the UW College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS), the week-long summer residency program is for students entering their senior year of high school. It provides students with an opportunity to explore various areas of engineering.
"Students attending the ESP will participate in hands-on laboratory activities in a variety of engineering disciplines and work directly with civil, chemical, computer science, electrical and mechanical engineering faculty members," says the program's director, Jeff Anderson, a faculty member in the UW Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
"Students will also have the opportunity to go on a field trip where various aspects of engineering are explored," he says. "Classes will give students educational laboratory experience in composite materials, robotics, computer science, computer electronics, engineering structures and chemical/rockets."
For more information, nomination and application forms, visit www.eng.uwyo.edu/highschool/esp or contact Anderson at esp@uwyo.edu or (307) 766-3180.
The program is funded by the Wyoming Engineering Society, the J. Kenneth and Pat Kennedy Endowment, the John P. Ellbogen Foundation, the Vincent O. Smith Family Foundation and the CEAS.
