Harrison Welshimer of Gillette, alto saxophone, is among finalists in the biennial Dorothy Jacoby Student Soloist Competition Thursday, March 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center concert hall.

These are among the public events scheduled at the University of Wyoming Monday, March 2, through Sunday, March 8.

Monday, March 2, 4 p.m. -- Rocky Mountain Festival of Voices Grand Finale Concert, Fine Arts Center concert hall. Free.

Tuesday, March 3, 7 p.m. -- UW Potter Law Club's annual Spring Panel Presentation will feature first-hand accounts of Tim Masters' Colorado murder conviction that was overturned, Classroom Building Room 129.

Wednesday, March 4, 7 p.m. -- The UW MFA Visiting Writers Series will present a reading by acclaimed author James Salter, Second Story Books, 105 Ivinson Street. Salter will sign his books following the reading.

Thursday, March 5, 7:30 p.m. -- UW Symphony Orchestra presents The Dorothy Jacoby Student Soloist Competition, Fine Arts Center concert hall. Tickets cost $6 for students, $7 for senior citizens and $10 for others.

Thursday, March 5-Saturday, March 7, 7:30 p.m. -- UW Department of Theatre and Dance presents "Escananba in Da Moonlight," Fine Arts Center Studio Theatre. Tickets cost $6.50 for general admission.

Saturday, March 7, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. -- UW's semiannual Outdoor Gear Swap, Wyoming Union Yellowstone Ballroom. For more information, e-mail oap@uwyo.edu or call (307) 766-2402.

Saturday, March 7, 8 p.m. -- ASUW Concerts and Convocations with Friday Night Fever present "Whose Line Is It, Anyway?" College of Arts and Sciences auditorium. Tickets cost $10 for students and $15 for others.

Saturday, March 7, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. -- Project Diabetes, free health screenings offered to the public by UW pharmacy students. The event will be held in the Family Room on the second floor of the Wyoming Union.
