Jacklynn Pham of LaVista, Neb., a senior in English and a University of Wyoming McNair Scholar, was selected to present her research during a conference in Albuquerque, N.M.
Pham discussed "PostSecret: The Use of Visuals in Secret Telling" during the recent 2010 Southwest Texas Popular & American Culture Association regional meeting. The conference offered faculty, graduate students and selected undergraduate students an opportunity to present their research in a formal academic setting while interacting with scholars from around the country.
Faculty mentor Michael Knievel and graduate student mentor Jennifer Waluta, departments of English and Communication and Journalism, directed Pham's work.
The McNair Scholars Program, funded through the United States Department of Education, helps promising undergraduates to pursue doctoral degrees. The program targets first-generation college, limited-income and minority students.
