These are among the construction activities scheduled June 13-19 at the University of Wyoming:
The UW Facilities Planning Office reports the following activities scheduled for the week:
Summit View Apartment Deconstruction (South of Willett Drive between Crane and Soule streets to Coe Street) -- Deconstruction of buildings continues and rough site grading has begun. The last buildings along Soule Street will be deconstructed. No-parking signs are set up along the west side of Soule with intermediate sidewalk closures. Materials are being separated for recycle/re-use where possible. The entire three blocks are fenced off so pedestrian and vehicle traffic will need to go around that area.
Berry Biodiversity Conservation Center (Scheduled completion: Fall 2010) -- Lewis Street remains closed from 9th to 11th streets for the contractor's staging area. The first floor activities will be MEP (mechanical/electrical/plumbing) rough-in, drywall and drywall tape and finish. The second floor activities will be miscellaneous framing, MEP rough-in, stained concrete sampling and in-wall blocking. The third floor activities will be miscellaneous framing, MEP rough-in,and in-wall blocking. The roof membrane will be installed. At the exterior the brick will be installed above the sloped roof, the west side brick will be washed and the scaffolding removed. The water lines will be installed in the alley. The storm water and sanitary sewer lines will be installed on the north side. Scaffolding on north side will start. Sprayed-on insulation goes on the south side. Fabrication of windows is scheduled to begin.
Education Annex (Scheduled Completion: Fall 2010) -- Art design and related finish upgrades are being installed on the second and third floors and stairs. HVAC and electrical work is scheduled this week. There will be no access to second or third floors starting Monday. Access to the elevator for the ADA route to first floor will remain.
College of Business Expansion and Renovation (Classes will begin in the fall) -- Faculty and staff move-in and furniture installation continues at the facility. Landscaping work continues at the exterior.
War Memorial Stadium Expansion and Improvements (Scheduled completion: Fall 2010) -- The East Stadium parking lot will be closed until August. Upgrades to the east side restrooms continues. Upper east front edge slabs will be placed this week for ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) seating extension. West window and metal panel installation complete. Evening and weekend work is scheduled through the summer.
Kendall House (Southeast corner of 8th and Fremont Streets, will become the Helga Otto Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources) -- Landscaping is continuing with heavy truck traffic in the area so use caution when walking down the sidewalks. The sidewalk at the corner of 8th and Fremont will be closed the rest of the week for sidewalk repairs. Finish work is continuing both inside and outside. Contractor punch list items (final items to complete on list after walk-through of a project) will continue for the next week. The move-in date is scheduled for Monday, June 14.
Biological Safety Lab, Level Three (BSL3) additions to the State Veterinary Laboratory -- Substantial completion inspection is ongoing on the north half of the addition. Site work continues on the exterior. The parking lot will be paved Wednesday and Thursday.
Energy Resource Center (Located at the old power plant site between the 10th and 11th blocks on Lewis Street) -- Geotechnical exploration will start on site June 16 and will continue for several days to a week depending additional testing needed.
The UW Physical Plant reports the following activities for the week:
College of Education -- Construction continues on the ADA accessible door at the building's main entrance on the south side. This entrance will be closed for two more weeks. The ADA accessible entrance will be on the north side of the building. Signage will direct pedestrian traffic. Please use caution around the work area.
Wyoming Hall -- The south entrance remains closed for door replacement. A temporary ramp and handrail have been constructed at the east entry for handicap access. Signs are posted. Work should be complete in one or two weeks pending material deliveries.
Bureau of Mines Building -- The north entrance has been reopened for traffic. There is still some minor work remaining. Please use caution when work is in progress.
Knight Hall -- The west entry on the north side of the building will be closed for about three weeks. Other entrances will remain open for building access.
College of Agriculture -- Roof replacement on the original Ag building is in progress. The staging area is on the west side of the facility facing Prexy's Pasture.
Indoor Practice Facility -- A roof access door and fan louver covers are being installed on the clear story roof the middle part of next week. No access issues are anticipated.
Coe Library -- Roof replacement on the mechanical room above the sixth floor is complete.
College of Education -- A domestic water shutdown work is complete.
Willett Drive/Fraternity Row -- The repair is complete on the steam condensate line in the parkway on the south side of Willett across from the Centrex Building. Workers will continue to clean up the area. Please use caution in this area.
Sorority Row -- A water line replacement to the Kappa Kappa Gamma house has begun. One half of King Street will remain open. Patching and resurfacing will occur next week. Please use caution or avoid driving in this area.
Day Lot -- Well repairs are ongoing at the east end of the Day Lot. There will be a drilling rig and several trucks; please use caution around the work area.
