The University of Wyoming Physical Plant and Facilities Planning departments are working to decrease energy consumption on campus through a number of energy efficiency projects and initiatives.
"From new construction to building renovations and infrastructure improvements, energy efficiency projects have been ongoing for several years," say Jim Scott, UW Physical Plant director and Campus Sustainability Committee co-chair.
Examples include building to LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standards, installing utility meters for major campus buildings, upgrading interior and exterior lighting, replacing older mechanical systems, replacing and improving campus infrastructure and evaluating alternative energy sources.
"Recently, specific action steps in UW's Climate Action Plan (CAP) have provided guidance and targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions to assist in prioritizing projects," says Scott.
