The return of famed broadcaster Bob Edwards, "On Point" with Tom Ashbrook, additional hours of BBC News and a second airing of "This American Life" are among the changes listeners will hear when Wyoming Public Radio unveils its new program schedule Monday, July 26.
"Wyoming Public Radio is committed to providing thoughtful, in-depth news to listeners in our state," says Program Director Roger Adams. "‘Bob Edwards Weekend,' ‘On Point' and the BBC will offer additional news coverage, discussion and analysis."
"Bob Edwards Weekend," an award-winning interview program hosted by NPR's long running host, will air Saturdays at 2 p.m.; "On Point" with Boston newsman Tom Ashbrook invites leading thinkers and newsmakers for lively discussions of the day's stories Monday through Friday at 7 p.m.; and BBC World Service, a leader in comprehensive global journalism, gets an earlier weeknight start Monday through Friday at 11 p.m.
WPR's own newsmagazine, "Open Spaces" - heard live Fridays at 3 p.m. - will be rebroadcast Sundays at noon. Listeners will have a second chance to hear Ira Glass and "This American Life" Sundays at 6 p.m. following NPR's "All Things Considered."
Also coming to Wyoming Public Radio: More hours of jazz on weekends and new times for some old favorites such as "Car Talk"Sunday," "The Thistle and Shamrock" and "World Caf."
