These are among the construction activities scheduled Aug. 29-Sept. 4 at the University of Wyoming
Groundbreaking -- A groundbreaking ceremony for the new Visual Arts Center is scheduled Wednesday, Sept. 1, at 10 a.m. at the corner of 22nd Street and Willett Drive. Everyone is invited.
Business Building Tours -- Tours of the expanded College of Business Building are scheduled from 2-4 p.m. on the following dates: Aug. 27, Sept. 10, Oct. 1 and Nov. 5. Refreshments will be provided.

The UW Facilities Planning Office reports the following activities scheduled for the week:
War Memorial Stadium Expansion and Improvements -- East side energy lobby finishes, HVAC controls work, TV distribution, and IT features to be installed. Upper east concrete seat installation continues. Art work and punch list items are scheduled for club area.
Visual Arts Center (22nd Street and Willett Drive near the Centennial Complex, scheduled
completion is late fall, 2011) -- The contractor will strip the topsoil and erect the erosion control and fencing
the week of Aug. 30. The formal groundbreaking will be held Sept. 1 at 10 a.m.
Old Albertsons/Osco Deconstruction (15th and Spring Creek streets, increases parking spaces in the south shuttle lot)
-- Deconstruction on Albertsons and Osco buildings continues. Materials are being
separated for recycle/re-use where possible and both buildings have been fenced off.
Summit View Apartment Deconstruction (South of Willett Drive between Crane and Soule streets to Coe Street) -- Deconstruction and final grading is complete. Magnesium chloride application is scheduled for the week.
Summit View Apartment Deconstruction Phase II (South of Willett Drive between Crane and 22nd streets to Arrowhead) -- Deconstruction and abatement continues. The deconstruction contractor has begun separating interior materials for recycle/re-use where possible. The landscaping buffer along 22nd will begin Sept. 1. The entire four blocks are fenced off, so pedestrian and vehicle traffic will need to go around the area.
Downey Hall Renovation -- Asbestos abatement will continue.
Berry Biodiversity Conservation Center (Scheduled completion: Fall 2010) -- Lewis Street remains closed from 9th to 11th
streets for contractor staging The following work and installations are scheduled
to take place next week: First floor: Drywall finishes in the lecture auditorium,
concrete floor polishing, electrical and plumbing trim, corridor ceiling grid, mechanical
room, pump room, and electrical rooms build out, painting, interior aluminum doors
and windows, radiator heater.
Second floor: Concrete floor polishing, painting, electrical and plumbing trim, radiator
heater.
Third floor: Drywall finishing at shafts, painting, electrical and plumbing trim,
ceiling grid installation.
Roof: Completing the penthouse metal now that the skylight is in, reheat coil installation,
rooftop unit piping, roof duct work.
Exterior: Landscaping boulders, grading of landscape, sidewalk grading, completing
stone on east side, water line lowering in Lewis Street, set the emergency generator,
transformer and pull wire.
Kendall House (Southeast corner of 8th and Fremont streets, is the new home of the Ruckelshaus Institute and Helga Otto Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources and the Wyoming Conservation Corps) -- The departments have moved into the building. Landscaping is complete with few punch list items remaining. Wood trim installation has started in the basement. Electrical trim work and baseboard heaters in the basement are nearly complete. Casework deliveries for the basement are scheduled for the week of Sept. 13.
Education Annex (Scheduled Completion: Fall 2010) -- Installation of art design and related finish upgrades continues on the second and third floors. Bamboo panel and carpet installation continues. Accesses are open for scheduled classes.
Biological Safety Lab, Level Three (BSL3) additions to the State Veterinary Laboratory -- Dry wall installation continues in the classroom, toilets and support spaces will
be installed in the necropsy area. Painting will begin next week. Foundations for
the west corridor and for infill of the old incinerator pit will continue.
The UW Physical Plant reports the following activities for the week:
Old Main -- Replacement of the east entry doors is in progress. The east entry will be closed until approximately Sept. 3. During the closure, everyone should enter through the west entrance. Special needs should be coordinated with Jeff Comin at (307) 760-5779, or jcomin@uwyo.edu. Please use caution around the work area.
Prexy's Pasture -- Replacement of the grass islands south of the Education Building and south of the Engineering Building is complete.
Campus Parking Lots -- Parking lot striping for next week will include: Parking on Grand Ave. & 10th Street will be striped Sunday, Aug. 28. Striping the Cowboy Bus Parking and re-painting handicap parking throughout campus will continue.
Campus -- Curb and gutter at the 1600 block of Willett Drive on the south side of the street has been replaced. The fence will remain in place for one more week. Continue to use caution in this area.
Plant Science Greenhouse -- Electrical work will continue on greenhouse fan upgrades. No access issues are anticipated.
Stock Farm -- Roof replacement of the foreman's house and manager's house will continue next week.
