The President's Welcome Barbecue and Fall Kickoff Pep Rally will be held Friday, Sept. 3, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at Tailgate Park to celebrate the beginning of the fall semester and the Wyoming Cowboys' first home football game.
University of Wyoming Head Football Coach Dave Christensen will speak at the event. The pep rally will also feature the UW cheerleaders, UW Pep Band and live music by Dan-o and Nashville-based country band, Hackamore.
The event will also include a free dinner for students and the entire UW community. Washakie Dining Center will be closed for the event. Students living in the residence halls are encouraged to attend the free dinner and pep rally.
The Mountain West Sports Network, the UW Bookstore and the Stampede student fan club will host games, giveaways and entertainment throughout Tailgate Park, located on the practice field south of the War Memorial Fieldhouse along Grand Avenue.
Wyoming's 2010 football season begins the following day, Saturday, Sept. 4, at 7 p.m. when the Cowboys face Southern Utah at War Memorial Stadium.
The schedule of events:
4:15 p.m. -- Tailgate Park opens;
4:30 p.m. -- Dinner begins, live music by Dan-o;
5 p.m. -- Pep rally featuring Dave Christensen, UW cheerleaders, UW Pep Band;
5:45 p.m. -- Concert by Hackamore.
