Outdoor Leadership Development Series Has Openings

September 9, 2010

The University of Wyoming Outdoor Program is now accepting applications for this year's Outdoor Leadership Development Series (OLDS).

Interested individuals should complete and return their applications by Sept. 15. Interviews will be held Sept. 20-24 and applicants will be informed of the decision by Sept. 27.

The OLDS is a year-long program to develop student leaders. The focus is on technical skills, leadership theory, practice and medical training. Program graduates will have a strong foundation for leading back country trips and applying to work for camps and adventure programs. Ten participants will be accepted into this free program.

The program consists of discussions on leadership theories, guest speakers, one OLDS weekend trip and assisting on at least two Outdoor Program trips each semester. Participants are required to take a two credit course, ENR 4890 (Introduction to Outdoor Leadership).

Additional information about the program and the application can be obtained by visiting the Outdoor Program in the south lobby of Half Acre gym or at www.uwyo.edu/op under "Outdoor Leadership Development Series" on the navigation bar.
