Why do patents exist and how do they protect inventors? A detailed explanation of
the patent application process will be offered Friday, Oct. 29, 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
at the Wyoming Workforce Services Center, 851 Werner Court, Room 120 in Casper.
Registration is free of charge, but sign-up is required at http://www.wyen.biz. Deadline
to register is Oct. 21.
The seminar will be presented as a video conference, and attendees will have the opportunity
to interact with the presenters.
Anthony Knight, Robert Spear and John Calvert of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
will host the program. Knight will explain the steps to applying for a patent and
the types of applications and their requirements.
Spear will explain what design patents are and their scope of protection.
Calvert will discuss useful information and resources available to inventors seeking
the services of an invention promotion firm and how to evaluate the legitimacy of
these firms.
