The Whiffenpoofs, a Yale University a cappella group, will perform Friday, Jan. 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the University of Wyoming Fine Arts concert hall. Tickets cost $8 for everyone but are free for Cultural Programs full-season ticket holders.
Founded in 1909, this 14-member group has performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and the White House. They have entertained presidents Reagan, George H. W. Bush, Clinton and George W. Bush.
The oldest and most firmly established a cappella collegiate ensemble, the Whiffenpoofs essentially began the tradition of a cappella singing on college campuses.
Season-ticket holders can pick up their tickets from the box office or can reserve them for later pickup by e-mailing Janelle or Nate at Janelle@uwyo.edu or Steinken@uwyo.edu. After Jan. 14, remaining tickets will be released and sold to the public.
