Todd Robinson
Issues regarding a "post-racial society" and church burnings will be examined in a free public talk Wednesday, March 2, at 7 p.m. at the University of Wyoming Union Yellowstone Ballroom.
Todd Robinson, a University of Nevada-Las Vegas assistant professor, will examine the Macedonia Church of God in Christ burning. His presentation delves into racial issues following the election of President Barack Obama.
Two years ago, the Macedonia Church of God in Christ, a predominantly African-American church in Springfield, Mass., was destroyed by arsonists on the morning after Obama was elected as the first African-American president of the United States.
Robinson's visit is sponsored by the UW African American & Diaspora Studies and Religious Studies programs and the Department of History.
He has written several articles, is a frequent guest on National Public Radio and is a museum consultant. Robinson currently is working on his second manuscript, "Fire, Flames, and Faith: The Untold Story of Black Church."
