Charles Wilkinson, a former Native American Rights Fund attorney, will give a free public lecture Thursday, April 14, at the University of Wyoming.
Wilkinson will discuss "Reflections on Writing a Tribal History: The Making of The People Are Dancing Again," at 2 p.m. in the Wyoming Union East Ballroom. Wilkinson, Lasky Professor of Law at the University of Colorado, Boulder, will recount the history of the Siletz Tribe of Western Oregon.
He will draw on his experiences writing his most recent book. A reception and book signing follows his lecture and copies of Wilkinson's new book will be available for purchase. Proceeds benefit the Siletz Tribe. He has written 13 books, including "Blood Struggle," which examines the fight for tribal sovereignty.
Wilkinson's visit is sponsored by the UW American Indian Studies Program, the UW College of Law and Legal Aid of Wyoming.
