Paula Weems’ ever-present smile has earned her the University of Wyoming’s Outstanding Staff Employee of the Fourth Quarter Award.
The award recognizes UW staff members for their efforts toward excellence in the workplace. Weems has been providing excellent customer service for the UW Admissions Office since 1996.
“She gets so many gifts from students who appreciate her just as much as the admissions team does,” writes one nominator. “She is one true, hardworking, dependable, reliable, funny and outgoing lady.”
Another writes, “She always goes over and beyond to help her students. She comes in early and stays late, and sometimes stays through part of her lunch to make sure that students get the help they need. Not only that, but she rolls with changes and adjusts accordingly.”
“I love being able to help prospective students get admitted to UW and help them with their next steps once accepted,” Weems says. She appreciates her co-workers and says she has been fortunate to have worked for supervisors such as Sara Alexson, Shelley Dodd and Pepper Six.
“They allow me to grow and give me the latitude to use my discretion in working with prospective students and helping them with their processes,” Weems says. “They have encouraged me and helped me with my self-confidence along the way.”
Employee of the Quarter nominees can be any UW staff employee and must receive three nomination forms from three separate individuals. Nominations must be submitted to the Staff Senate office. The forms are on the web at www.uwyo.edu/staffsenate/employee-of-the-quarter.
