UW Health Sciences Research Day is April 12

Dr. Linda Ercoli from the UCLA Medical Center will discuss Alzheimer’s disease at 9 a.m. April 12 in the Wyoming Union Family Room.

Students in the University of Wyoming College of Health Sciences will showcase their research and hear from an expert on Alzheimer’s disease during the college’s annual Grand Rounds/Research Day Friday, April 12.

This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Linda Ercoli from the UCLA Medical Center. She’ll present a lecture on Alzheimer’s disease.

The day’s activities also include a student symposium where students will showcase their research. Students and faculty also will present posters illustrating their research.

Posters will be on display from 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. in the West Ballroom of the Wyoming Union. Ercoli will speak at 9 a.m. in the Wyoming Union’s Family Room, with a brief introduction beginning at 8:45 a.m.

The public is invited to all of the day’s events.

Ercoli is a health sciences associate clinical professor and the director of geriatric psychology in the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at the UCLA Semel Institute. She is a clinical psychologist with expertise in geriatrics, dementia and the neuropsychology of aging.

Her research areas include using neuropsychological tests and brain imaging for the early detection and prediction of dementia, and the development of cognitive intervention programs for older adults with memory difficulties and cancer survivors with chemotherapy-related cognitive deficits.
