UW Trustees Set Agenda for Jan. 16

January 13, 2014

The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees is scheduled to consider a variety of topics, including the status of Interim President Dick McGinity, during its regular meeting Jan. 16-18.

Having appointed McGinity as UW’s interim leader in December, the board is scheduled to gather in executive session at 8 a.m. Thursday to begin the meeting, then move to open session at 10 a.m. to discuss the university presidency. Any action on the issue would be taken during Friday’s regular business meeting.

The board will meet in Room 506 of Coe Library. All meetings are open to the public except for executive sessions.

Public testimony will be accepted at 11:30 a.m. Thursday. That will be followed by a working lunch of the board to discuss the university’s revenues, including tuition and fees.

Thursday afternoon’s agenda includes a discussion about the coming 2014 legislative budget session and responses to legislative budget footnotes from the 2013 general session.

Trustees are scheduled to participate in an informal dinner with administrators and others from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the UW Conference Center. The topic is an update about the Wyoming Governor’s Energy, Engineering, STEM Integration Task Force and efforts to achieve “Tier 1” status for the College of Engineering and Applied Science.

Friday begins with a meeting of the board’s Fiscal and Legal Affairs Committee at 7:30 a.m. in Room 506 of Coe Library. An executive session of the full board is set for 8:30 a.m., followed by committee reports, and discussions about construction projects and board operations.

The business meeting, in which trustees take formal action on agenda items, is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. Friday -- but the time could change depending upon the time necessary to complete the board’s work.

On Saturday, the board is scheduled to gather for a working breakfast at 8 a.m. in Room 506 of Coe Library, followed by a presentation from UW Foundation President Ben Blalock at 10 a.m. A discussion about the university’s strategic planning process is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Saturday to conclude the board meeting.

The complete agenda, along with a report that includes background information on agenda items, is available on the Web at https://www.uwyo.edu/trustees/current-board-meetings.
