March 25, 2014
Five people
Actors from the London Stage perform Shakespeare’s “As You Like It” April 4-5, at 7:30 p.m. on the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts main stage.

Actors from the London Stage, a self-directed ensemble of five professional British actors, will perform William Shakespeare’s free-spirited comedy “As You Like It” Friday and Saturday, April 4-5, at 7:30 p.m. on the University of Wyoming Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts main stage.

Tickets cost $14 for the public, $11 for senior citizens and $7 students. Tickets may be purchased at the Performing Arts ticket office weekdays from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., by phone at (307) 766-6666, or online at www.uwyo.edu/finearts.

In “As You Like It,” Rosalind, one of Shakespeare’s most delightful heroines, is banished from the royal court by her usurping uncle and flees with her cousin to the enchanted Forest of Arden. Her unfortunate exile is transformed into a charming adventure when Rosalind encounters some of Shakespeare’s most beloved characters -- colorful fools, witty rustics and the handsome, lovesick Orlando. A beguiling game of love, lust and mistaken identity ensues in this timeless and transcendent romantic comedy.

Members of the acting ensemble are tour veterans Jennifer Higham, Patrick Miller, Robert Mountford, Joannah Tincey and Dan Winter.

Actors from the London Stage is the national outreach program of Shakespeare at Notre Dame. The artists -- five British Shakespearean actors from such companies as the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal National Theatre of Great Britain, and Shakespeare’s Globe, among others -- devote a large part of their time to lectures, workshops, seminars and informal meetings with students. Their stay provides students and faculty members with a unique opportunity -- both to observe extraordinary performances and to discuss literature and the art of theater in depth with some of the most talented artists from some of the most important theater companies in the world.

The UW Department of Theatre and Dance sponsors the performances.
