Health Insurance Premiums to Increase in 2015

Employees of the University of Wyoming and Wyoming state government will see an increase in their monthly health insurance premiums during 2015.

State health insurance program officials detailed the increases in a recent newsletter, citing increases in the number and dollar amount of claims filed by plan participants -- combined with the escalating costs of medical services.

As the university will continue to cover close to 85 percent of employees’ health insurance premiums, UW’s contribution will increase about 14 percent. Employee premiums, meanwhile, will rise by about the same amount, with some variation depending upon each employee’s chosen plan.

To prepare for the annual open enrollment period Nov. 1-30, a representative of the Wyoming Employees’ and Officials’ Group Insurance Program will hold meetings for UW employees at 1 and 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, in the Wyoming Union’s East Yellowstone Ballroom. Information about insurance changes and the open enrollment period will be provided.
