UW Catering & Events Handles Gateway Center, Conference Center Booking

The University of Wyoming’s ability to host a wide variety of events has been enhanced with the addition of the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center and the transfer of management of the UW Conference Center to UW Catering & Events.

Now, UW Catering & Events, a unit of UW Residence Life & Dining Services, serves as a one-stop shop for anyone -- inside or outside the university -- planning meetings, interviews, recruiting activities, fundraisers, banquets, conferences, weddings and other events.

“We’re excited about these changes, which will mean better service for our clients and improved overall efficiency in these venues and around campus,” says Eric Webb, interim director of Residence Life & Dining Services. “We have premium facilities, high-quality space and easy-access parking for any size of event.”

The Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center, which opened Oct. 23, is UW’s state-of-the-art, $35 million welcoming center, featuring 12 unique event and meeting spaces -- including the largest ballroom in Laramie, salons, an atrium, concourse and conference rooms. The facility “provides unmatched sophistication and capability for conferences, banquets, receptions and other functions,” Webb says.

In addition, as of Feb. 1, UW Catering & Events manages the UW Conference Center, which adjoins the Hilton Garden Inn right across 22nd Street from the Gateway Center. The Conference Center has a large ballroom and meeting rooms with flexible venue space that can accommodate a wide variety of events, conferences and meetings.

UW Catering & Events also provides catering services in the historic Wyoming Union at the heart of campus.

The staff of more than 100 offers a comprehensive menu that includes buffets, plated meals, hors d’oeuvres, bakery items, desserts and beverages. The menu offerings are available through full-service (waited, buffet-style and reception) or limited service including delivery and pickup.

“We have the resources to provide first-rate service for any gathering, no matter the scope or occasion,” Webb says. “We’re committed to providing a one-stop shop and superb service for our clients while maintaining efficiency and good fiscal management.”
