Education Dean Search Committee Seeks Input

The search committee for the dean of the University of Wyoming’s College of Education is seeking input on the finalists.

Committee Chair Paula Lutz, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, says anyone who participated in any part of the interview process for the four finalists is asked to complete a short online survey at www.uwyo.edu/acadaffairs/web/ed_dean_schedule.html by the end of the day Wednesday, April 1. The website includes all four application packets.

“The search committee values both your participation and feedback,” Lutz says.

The finalists are Ray Reutzel, professor of early literacy and director of the Emma Eccles Jones Early Childhood Education Center at Utah State University; Richard Lomax, professor and associate dean for research and administration at Ohio State University’s College of Education and Human Ecology; Matt Keefer, professor and former chair of the Division of Educational Psychology, Research and Evaluation at the University of Missouri-St. Louis; and Verl Pope, professor of counseling and chair of the Department of Counseling, Social Work and Leadership at Northern Kentucky University.

Pope concludes his interview today. All other finalists already have visited campus. A fifth candidate was announced, but accepted another position before his campus visit and withdrew his application.

The search committee will meet Friday to examine feedback about the candidates' visits and make its recommendations to Vice President for Academic Affairs David Jones.
