Two University of Wyoming students won top awards in the “Steal This Idea” graphic design competition at the recent Association of College Unions International (ACUI) Region IV Conference in Corvallis, Ore.
Jacob Chavez Jr., a marketing major from Rawlins, and Madison Cooley, a Cheyenne computer science and art major, both are student graphic design employees in the Wyoming Union marketing office.
Chavez was awarded first place in the print category for his poster promoting the Service, Leadership and Community Engagement (SLCE) office’s alternative break team leader opportunities. He also received the Judge’s Choice in the multi-page category for the SLCE office’s first-year institute welcome packet and in the T-shirt category for the Campus Activities Center’s (CAC) Trampled by Turtles concert T-shirt design.
Cooley was awarded honorable mention in the print category for her poster that promoted the CAC’s Friday Night Fever annual Casino Night event.
Judges determined the winners based on concept, design, editorial content and effectiveness.
ACUI Region IV includes 56 universities and community colleges from Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan.
