Major Reorganization of UW Division of Administration Units

A major reorganization of several operational units critical to the success of the University of Wyoming Division of Administration is now in effect, says Bill Mai, vice president for administration. 

He says several units have been placed under one executive director, John Davis. They are Facilities Services, Facilities Management, Facilities Utilities, Business Services, Real Estate, Facilities Construction, Facilities Architecture, Facilities Engineering and Jacoby Golf Course.

“As director of operations, John will provide more direct, comprehensive oversight to ensure the cooperative involvement of architects, engineers, project managers, commissioning agents and maintenance technicians as UW construction projects are envisioned, planned, designed, constructed, commissioned, operated and maintained,” Mai says.

The reorganization eliminates the positions of associate vice president for administration; director of the Physical Plant; the director of Facilities Planning, which will transition into a deputy director of Facilities Architecture; and the senior mechanical manager, which will transition into a deputy director of Facilities Management. It also requires new positions of deputy director of Facilities Construction and manager, UW lock and key.

“This new structure will create a more synergistic group working together on major construction projects,” Mai says. “This organizational flattening and grouping of the complete building life-cycle managers is not unique to UW, but in line with the way many successful universities approach these functions.”
