“Escapades!” performed by the faculty ensemble Snowy Range Brass will close the University of Wyoming Department of Music’s Faculty Recital Series spring season Sunday, May 8, at 3 p.m. The free public program is in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts concert hall.
Snowy Range Brass members are UW Associate Professor Scott Meredith, trumpet; graduate student Jake Borchardt, trumpet; and UW instructors of music Katherine Smith, horn; Mark Soueidi, trombone; and Alan Harvey, tuba.
The brass quintet has a vaunted place in the classical chamber music world, and “Escapades!” features some of the standard modern repertoire by Victor Ewald, Michael Kamen, Leonard Bernstein and Kevin McKee, along with popular transcriptions by J.S. Bach.
Although this will be the only Snowy Range Brass performance this spring, brass quintet fans can enjoy the return of world-renowned Boston Brass, who will be in Laramie for a weeklong residency in June. For more information, contact the Department of Music at musicdpt@uwyo.edu, and look for the new 2016-17 Faculty Recital Series brochure in early fall.
