The University of Wyoming Department of Music’s Faculty Recital Series continues with guest pianist Lei Weng Sunday, April 2.
The free public concert is scheduled at 3 p.m. in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts recital hall. The program will feature works by J.S. Bach, sonatas by Prokofiev and Chopin, Gershwin and a tone poem, titled “Silver Clouds Chasing the Moon” by Chinese composer Wang Jianzhong.
Weng is a successful international artist. He is an accomplished pianist, teacher, adjudicator and clinician, appearing throughout the U.S., Canada, Taiwan, London and Italy. Weng has performed in various venues across the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York City and China’s National Center for Performing Arts.
He is the keyboard area head at the University of Northern Colorado, where he received the College of Performing and Visual Arts Scholar of the Year award. Weng also is the founder and director of the Colorado International Piano Academy and Colorado Piano Festival.
He received a master’s degree and doctorate in musical arts, both from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
