UW Staff Senate, Transit and Parking Services Team Up on Holiday Food Drive

Staff Senate and Transit and Parking Services are combining for a food drive through Friday, Dec. 15, that will help eligible University of Wyoming families this holiday season.

People who have unpaid parking citations of less than $38 at UW can have their fines reduced by donating nonperishable items for a holiday food drive.

UW Transit and Parking Services’ “Food for Fines” program is underway through Dec. 15. Customers can bring in two nonperishable food donations and receive a 30 percent discount on fines. Customers with multiple violations may participate as many as three times, but must bring two items each time when paying the balance of their fines.

All donations received by Transit and Parking Services will be donated to the UW Staff Senate Holiday Food Drive. Expired or opened nonperishable food donations will not be accepted.

Other program rules are: Customers who have immobilized vehicles may not participate; all citations on account must be paid at the time of donation for a customer to participate in the program; all donations must be made at the Transit and Parking Services office and presented at the time of payment to receive the discount; and the offer is not valid on citations that have been transferred to other agencies for collection.

Staff senators have set up boxes in various buildings throughout campus to collect nonperishable food items. Boxes are located in:

-- Wyo Hall lobby, by ROTC office.

-- IT Building, first floor break area and student study area.

-- Old Main, east entrance.

-- Annex office lobby, located on 21st and Garfield streets.

-- Coe Library, near Room 212.

-- Health Sciences Center, outside of Room 292.

-- Earth Sciences Building, Room 1001 (mailroom).

-- College of Arts and Sciences Building, Room 208.

-- Service Building, office.

-- Bureau of Mines Building, main entrance next to the elevators.

-- Wyoming State Vet Lab, tech office near virology.

-- Washakie Dining Center, entrance to Residence Life and Dining Services’ administrative offices.
