An experienced administrator in student financial aid and enrollment who has been the financial aid director at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University since 2014 has been appointed as the director of scholarships and financial aid at the University of Wyoming.
Debra Hintz, who joined the institution in Prescott, Ariz., after serving as vice president of enrollment management at Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina for eight years, will begin her new duties at UW Jan. 29.
“I am very excited that Debra has agreed to direct our Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid,” UW Vice Provost for Enrollment Management Kyle Moore says. “She brings a wealth of experience from both public and private institutions.”
In all, Hintz has 27 years of experience in managing offices of financial aid, as well as in student retention and success efforts. Before her work as vice president of enrollment management at Gardner-Webb, she served as associate vice president for retention and student success, assistant vice president for financial planning and director of financial aid at that university.
She also was director of financial aid at McKendree University in Illinois, New England College in New Hampshire, Franklin Pierce University in New Hampshire, Lawrence University in Wisconsin and several other institutions.
“I hope my background will help with refining the goal of making the aid process go as smoothly as possible for our students and families,” Hintz says. “I’m looking forward to working with UW’s enrollment management team and the entire campus to help recruit, retain and graduate our students.”
