The University of Wyoming Chamber Orchestra will present a Baroque-inspired performance Sunday, Sept. 30, at 7:30 p.m. in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts concert hall.
Tickets for the concert cost $10 for the public, $7 for senior citizens and $6 for students. Tickets are available at the Performing Arts box office and the Wyoming Union information desk, by calling (307) 766-6666 or by going online at www.uwyo.edu/finearts.
Directed by UW Associate Professor Beth Vanderborgh, the performance will feature a mix of Baroque and baroque-inspired music performed by UW string soloists from all sections of the orchestra.
Music will include excerpts from concertos by Vivaldi, Telemann, Bach, Eccles, Reger and a world-premiere piece from Scott Walker. Featured will be Vivaldi’s “Concerto Alla Rustica,” “Concerto for Four Violins” and “Concerto for Two Cellos.” Also featured will be “Concerto for Three Violins” from Telemann’s Tafelmusik TWV 53.
UW Symphony Orchestra Concertmaster Jesse Silva will be featured in Bach’s “A Minor Concerto.” Ross McIntosh and Eloise Fadial, both from Laramie, will perform works from Telemann.
Other soloists include: violinists Shosei Ando, Karen Christie, Amanda Dority, Sophia Helmkamp, Ana Merchant and Sam Sanders; violists Chase Jordan and Washington Pereira; cellists Jessie Salas, Antonio Soria and Thu Vo; and bassist Pei-Chen Chiu.
