Ed Flaherty, owner of the Lariat Company in Eden Prairie, Minn., will speak to University of Wyoming Master of Business Administration (MBA) students Friday, Oct. 19, in the College of Business.
Flaherty’s discussion is part of the MBA Program’s Executive Speaker Series this semester.
Over the past 28 years, Flaherty has purchased and started more than 30 companies. He estimates he has created nearly 10,000 jobs. Flaherty brings business experience with him from his successful startup investments. His investments include companies such as Rapid Oil, Applebee’s, Comfort Inn and Miller Milling.
“Flaherty is very wise when it comes to business decisions,” says Glen Taylor, billionaire entrepreneur and owner of the Minnesota Timberwolves. “He has a very good mind that goes through all the alternatives before making a decision. Flaherty is a strong personality, an A-type personality, and he is fun to be around.”
The MBA Program’s Executive Speaker Series allows UW MBA students the opportunity to participate in roundtable discussions and receive real-world learning experiences from a group of diverse industry leaders, including CEOs, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, financial service representatives and sports industry executives. This experiential learning opportunity provides UW MBA students with a strong network of individuals who share their business wisdom and open the door to many employment and mentorship opportunities.
