Efficient, caring, knowledgeable and competent are some of the qualities attributed to Ashley Neff, the University of Wyoming Staff Employee of the Third Quarter.
Neff is the senior office associate in the Division of Social Work. She has held the office associate position since 2014. In 2016, Neff became the senior office associate when another office associate transferred.
The Division of Social Work has a dynamic student-centered faculty and employs additional community professionals who teach on an adjunct basis. Small class sizes give students a strong connection to faculty and individualized attention.
Neff balances her responsibilities as a staff member with the responsibilities of being an anthropology major at UW.
“She is an outstanding staff member, which she miraculously balances with her family commitments and her work as a UW student,” Neff’s nominator says. “She has worked with faculty to improve the admissions processes for both undergraduate and graduate applicants. Her staff support to these refinements has been critical to the success of the admissions process.”
Neff’s nominator states that she is “our superhero.”
“She is a military veteran, having served for a number of years, exiting as an officer. Neff also is a huge asset to our department,” a colleague says. “Neff has taken on all the responsibilities managed by two or more personnel in the past and carries out those responsibilities with composure and confidence, regardless of the situation.”
Not only does Neff handle her responsibilities with composure, but she also has a clear understanding of day-to-day operations.
“She is a fast learner, good listener and seems to be a walking source of knowledge,” another colleague says. “Neff loves to seek knowledge and to share her knowledge with faculty and students to improve whatever task or issue is under consideration.”
Neff organizes and shares her knowledge, all with a smile on her face, according to her nominator.
“She always arrives with a smile on her face and a happy greeting for students and faculty,” the co-worker says. “Neff has left an indelible imprint on students, so much so that, when we have graduation parties, graduates publicly recognize her in their speeches on stage.”
A reception for Neff was held last week, where she received a variety of prizes.
An Employee of the Quarter nominee can be any UW staff employee, and each must receive three nomination forms from three separate individuals. Nominations must be submitted to the Staff Senate office. The forms are on the web at www.uwyo.edu/staffsenate/employee-of-the-quarter.
