University of Wyoming President Laurie Nichols will speak with UW Master of Business Administration (MBA) students Friday, Nov. 30, in the College of Business.
Nichols will share insights about her current and past roles in the areas of leadership, budget management and strategic planning with UW students as part of the MBA Executive Speaker Series.
Nichols became UW’s 26th president May 16, 2016, the first woman to hold the position. She has encouraged a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach to achieving the university’s core missions. Nichols has led the efforts for a comprehensive strategic plan that will guide UW for the next five years.
Nichols comes to UW from South Dakota State University, where she has served as provost and executive vice president since 2009. Before that, she was dean of the SDSU College of Education and Human Sciences from 1994 to 2008. She began her career in higher education as a member of the faculty of the University of Idaho from 1988 to 1994.
The MBA Program’s Executive Speaker Series allows UW MBA students the opportunity to participate in roundtable discussions and receive real-world learning experiences from a group of diverse industry leaders, including CEOs, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, financial service representatives and sports industry executives.
The MBA Program offers mentorship opportunities for MBA students, unique experiential opportunities such as the Executive Speaker Series, a 2:1 student-to-faculty ratio and a more than 90 percent graduation placement rate.
