Dan Starks, former CEO of St. Jude Medical, will share insights into his successful career growing a global Fortune 500 company with UW Master of Business Administration (MBA) students Friday, Dec. 7, in the College of Business.
He will share insights about his rise through the management ranks to become head of a global medical device company with UW students as part of the MBA Executive Speaker Series.
Starks became CEO in May 2004 and, during his leadership, revenue grew from $1.9 billion to more than $5.6 billion by 2014. The company has more than 18,000 employees. He left the company in 2015.
The MBA Program’s Executive Speaker Series allows UW MBA students the opportunity to participate in roundtable discussions and receive real-world learning experiences from a group of diverse industry leaders, including CEOs, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, financial service representatives and sports industry executives.
The MBA Program offers mentorship opportunities for MBA students; unique experiential opportunities such as the Executive Speaker Series; a 2:1 student-to-faculty ratio; and a more than 90 percent graduation placement rate.
