Maohong Fan has made Clarivate Analytics’ (formerly Thomas Reuters) list as one of the world’s most highly cited researchers in the field of chemical and petroleum engineering.
Fan, a UW School of Energy Resources (SER) professor in chemical and petroleum engineering, was listed in the prestigious Clarivate Analytics’ Highly Cited Researchers 2018.
Highly Cited Researchers 2018 represents some of the world’s most influential scientific minds from 21 scientific fields. Approximately 4,000 researchers earned this distinction by writing the greatest number of reports officially designated by Essential Science Indicators as “Highly Cited Papers” -- ranking among the top 1 percent most cited for their subject field and year of publication (2006-2016). Only articles and reviews in science and social sciences journals indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection were considered.
Fan was listed in the new “cross-field” category that identifies researchers with substantial influence across several fields during the last decade. Some 2,000 researchers with cross-field impact join the approximately 4,000 who have been selected in one or more of the 21 broad fields.
“This is an honor for the University of Wyoming. The recognition means a lot to my research team, especially the responsibility of working hard for development of clean energy technologies for Wyoming,” Fan says. “Wyoming has great economic potential. As an SER faculty member in petroleum and chemical engineering, I need to make more efforts in helping Wyoming develop and realize this potential.”
