Local band J Shogren Shanghai’d will perform Wednesday, June 12, as part of the University of Wyoming’s Summer Concert Series. The event is free and open to the public.
J Shogren Shanghai’d will perform from 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. on Simpson Plaza. UW Residence Life and Dining Services will provide burgers -- including a veggie option -- pulled pork, hot dogs, sides and drinks for purchase from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
The Centennial-based band plays a “catawampus style of Americana music” -- a mix that includes folk, country, blues, jazz and rockabilly.
“Blending more styles than we can list here, Shogren somehow ties it all together for his own unique sound,” says Village Records. “Thoughtful and larger-than-life songs set to a hard-acoustic background make for some exciting listening. At the end of the day, though, it’s Americana at its best.”
J Shogren, also known as Jason Shogren, is not only a musician, but also a distinguished professor and chair of the UW Department of Economics.
