Drug Information Center

The UW School of Pharmacy maintains the Drug Information Center to provide accurate and complete drug information to health care professionals and residents within the state of Wyoming and to UW alumni.

The Drug Information Center serves as a rotation site for Pharm.D. candidates from the UW School of Pharmacy and as a resource for all UW students, especially those in the health sciences.

All drug information questions are reviewed by a registered pharmacist who specializes in drug information. Follow-up information will be faxed or mailed to you upon request. Please do not hesitate to ask for additional information or documentation, if required.

About Us

The UW Drug Information Center is located on the UW campus in the School of Pharmacy, Room 495. The Drug Info Center serves as a rotation site for 4th professional year Pharm.D. candidates. 

Melissa Hunter, Pharm.D., R.Ph., is the Director of the Drug Information Center. The Drug Information Center is open during university hours. It is closed on weekends and university holidays. Questions can be left by voice mail during off-hours and will be returned the next working day. Emergency questions during these times should be directed to the Poison Control Center at 800-222-1222.

Services

The UW Drug Information Center maintains a comprehensive resource library of drug-related information. Our library includes information on domestic, foreign, investigational, non-prescription and illicit drugs. 

Types of questions the Drug Information Center can answer include:

• Tablet identification

• Adverse drug effects

• Biopharmaceutics

• Contraindications

• Drug dosages

• Drug utilization

• Law questions

• Pharmaceutical compatibility

• Drug interactions

• Toxicities

• Foreign drug name translation

• Other drug related information

It would be impossible to list every type of question we have the resources to address. Please do not hesitate to contact us even if your question is outside the scope of these categories.

Requests

Requests for information can be submitted through the telephone, fax, or email. The Drug Information Center (DIC) accepts requests from residents of Wyoming and University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy alumni.

Please include your name and contact information in addition to the request.

The DIC is open Monday through Friday, 8:00-12:00 and 1:00-5:00 Mountain Standard Time. The DIC is closed weekends and University holidays.
