Trustees' Scholars Award

This information is for the Fall 2026/Spring 2027 academic year.

The UW Trustees’ Scholars Award is the premier scholarship for the best and brightest Wyoming high school seniors. Those students currently enrolled in high school will be considered, and Trustees' Scholars Award recipients typically average a 3.97 unweighted high school GPA and an average ACT composite score of 32.  An ACT Superscore will not be used in the Trustees' Scholars Award selection process.

The goal of the selection process is to learn more about students’ academic achievement, goals and aspirations, and academic endeavors. Below is an outline of the process and timeline for students.

Students must be degree-seeking through UW's Laramie or Casper campuses. UW Online students are not eligible for these scholarships.

Please note: All University of Wyoming financial awards are only available to eligible admits. The awards are subject to available funding and the approval of the UW Board of Trustees; they reserve the right to change said rates at any time.

Trustees' Scholars Award Selection Process

Initial UW Application Period

The deadline for currently enrolled Wyoming high school seniors to apply for admission, submit all application materials (preliminary high school transcript and ACT/SAT scores), and be admitted to UW is December 1, 2025.

Any application materials, including ACT/SAT scores, received after December 1, 2025, will not be considered for the Trustees' Scholars Award.

There is not a separate Trustees' Scholars Award application for initial consideration. The Scholarship Committee will review the admission application, high school curriculum, unweighted high school GPA, and ACT/SAT scores to select candidates moving onto the second round of the selection process.

Those students moving to the second round of the selection process will be notified via email.

Interviews and Selection Period

Students who make it to the second round will be notified and invited in December to submit the following:

  • Essay
  • Resumé
  • Name and contact information for a high school administrator (Principal or Assistant Principal) or high school counselor to certify good standing

The due date for the second round submission is December 17, 2025.

The Scholarship Committee will review items submitted to determine who will advance to the final round of the selection process. Students selected to move onto the final round will be invited to participate in an online interview open January 8 through January 20, 2026.

  • In response to thoughtful feedback from Wyoming families and with the goal of making the process more accessible, the University of Wyoming will no longer require an in-person interview as part of the Trustees’ Scholars Award selection. This change is intended to reduce travel and scheduling burdens, while ensuring that all qualified students may be considered for the University’s most prestigious scholarship. Our commitment remains the same—to recognize and support Wyoming’s top scholars.
