Research Experience
Over the course of his career, Dr. Holmes has engaged in several large research projects concerning racial and ethnic inequalities in the administration of justice. His recent research focuses primarily on police violence in minority communities, which involves both empirical and theoretical analyses of the problem. His publications include a book on Race and Police Brutality, numerous articles in journals such as Criminology, Crime & Delinquency, Justice Quarterly, Social Forces, Social Problems and The Sociological Quarterly, as well as several book chapters. Currently, he is conducting a study of police-citizen relations in the U.S.-Mexico border region.
