Secondary Modern Languages Education
Open new doors of opportunity for Wyoming students and help strengthen our state’s
economic and cultural connections by teaching middle and high school students a new
language. The University of Wyoming Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education Modern
Languages Education program well help you become an innovative foreign language educator
who speaks, reads, and writes in French, German, or Spanish.
In addition to coursework in French, German or Spanish, you will become enveloped
in current and historical best practices in pedagogy and assessment while incorporating
special education techniques, and technology into your teaching practice. Virtual
teaching simulations and real-world classroom experience will allow you to build confidence
and expertise while honing classroom management skills and teaching methods.
UW’s bachelor’s in modern language education program is Nationally Recognized by the
American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) and the Association
for Advancing Quality in Educator Preperation (AAQEP). The benefits of earning a bachelors in secondary education on-campus in Laramie will help you succeed on your journey to become a teacher. Modern
language education students are strongly encouraged to study abroad and immerse themselves
in the language and culture that they will one day be teaching.
Upon completion of the program, you will earn a B.A. in Secondary Education Modern
Languages Education with a concurrent major in French, German, or Spanish, and will
be eligible to apply for your Wyoming teaching license for grades 6-12. You can further increase your marketability by taking elective courses
that can add additional endorsements to your future teaching license.
