Doctor of Pharmacy Program Highlights

Experiential Education

The experiential education program at the University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy consists of a series of directed pharmacy practice experiences or rotations that occur outside of the traditional classroom setting. These important experiences provide students with an opportunity to apply and practice the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviors developed from previous and concurrent coursework in a variety of pharmacy practice environments. The experiential education program consists of two components: 1) Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPEs) and 2) Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs).

Looking to leverage your skills and enhance your value when you start your career path? Consider a dual Pharm.D/.Master of Science in Health Services Administration (M.S. HSA) degree. This multidisciplinary graduate program provides pharmacy students with the opportunity to take M.S. From UW Student to Pharmacy Owner: Brett’s Journey

Meet Brett Kvenild—University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy graduate, pharmacist and owner of Pole Mountain Pharmacy in Laramie. With more than 20 years of experience managing pharmacies across Wyoming, Brett turned his dream into reality by opening an independent pharmacy in his hometown. As a dedicated preceptor, he now mentors UW pharmacy students during their retail rotations, helping them apply what they’ve learned in class to real-world patient care. Watch Brett’s story to see how a Pharm.D. from UW can lead to a fulfilling career and a lasting impact on your community.

"What I remember most when looking back is how truly incredible the people were in that department. Many other schools of pharmacy have very large class sizes and while that can be advantageous in many ways, I am thankful for the intimate nature of this program that allowed for close connections and long-lasting friendships."
