Personnel in the Environment and Natural Resources Program, including the Haub School, the Ruckelshaus Institute and the Wyoming Conservation Corps, are moving today (Monday) to the new Bim Kendall House, located at 8th and Fremont Streets.
The facility is a renovated 1950s prairie-style building that features environmentally friendly materials and technologies and provides office, classroom, and common spaces for students, faculty and staff. The Bergman Gardens, honoring former ENR director Harold Bergman, includes an architecturally designed xeriscape.
The ENR is seeking silver LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED is the recognized standard for measuring building sustainability, and includes a rating system with four certification levels for new construction Certified, Silver, Gold and Platinum.
An open house and tour of the Bim Kendall House is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 17, from 5-7 p.m.
The Kendall House was made possible by a gift from Donald and Bim Kendall. The project also received funding from the Kresge Foundation, Rocky Mountain Power, and matches by the Wyoming State Legislature.
