UW President Responds to Gov. Meads Budget Recommendations

December 1, 2011

University of Wyoming President Tom Buchanan today issued the following statement in reaction to Gov. Matt Mead's 2013-14 budget recommendations:

"We're pleased with the continued support of the university by the state's chief executive. His budget recommendation recognizes the university's top priorities in capital construction, providing some flexibility to examine a number of projects, and in keeping our employee compensation in line with state agencies. We hope to sustain those priorities through the legislative process.

"The governor didn't recommend everything UW requested, but given concerns about fiscal limitations, we appreciate his strong support.

"We're proud of and thankful for the contributions the citizens of Wyoming make with their tax dollars. We take our responsibilities seriously in delivering opportunities for students, preparing a work force for the future, and conducting research to help drive the state's economy while preserving those things we hold dear."
