Due to changes in the University of Wyoming's computer system, the classified advertising service on the WyoWeb system will be suspended after Dec. 16.
However, plans call for the Campus Classifieds, which have been available to UW employees and students, to return in a revised format in March.
"With the changes taking place in the WyoWeb system, we see an opportunity to revamp the classifieds," says UW Institutional Communications Director Chad Baldwin, whose staff has maintained Campus Classifieds. "We know they're used extensively by employees and students, and we intend to bring them back in a user-friendly format in the spring semester. In the interim, please pardon the inconvenience."
Institutional Communications is looking at possible third-party vendors to provide the classified advertising service. Due to cost considerations, final decisions about the service won't be made until there is resolution on UW's proposed 2013-14 budget.
The Associated Students of the University of Wyoming, the UW Faculty Senate and the UW Staff Senate have all been consulted in the plan to revamp the Campus Classifieds.
