Poet Rebecca Lindenberg will read from her first book Monday, April 2, at Second Story Books. Her collection is dedicated to the memory of University of Wyoming Associate Professor Craig Arnold, who disappeared while conducting research three years ago.

Her free public reading, sponsored by UW's MFA Program in Creative Writing, is at 7 p.m. at the bookstore, located at 105 Ivinson Street. A book signing follows.

Lindenberg will read from her new collection of poems, "Love, an Index" (McSweeney's Books 2012). The collection recounts the loss of Arnold, a former UW faculty member and well-known poet who disappeared while hiking in Japan in 2009.

"In her fierce, one-of-a-kind debut," McSweeney's Books writes of the collection, "Rebecca Lindenberg tells the story -- in verse -- of her passionate relationship with Arnold. Lindenberg's . style lays bare the poet's sadness, joys, and longings in poems that are lyric and narrative, at once plainspoken and musically elaborate."

"Love, an Index" is the first collection from McSweeney's new and highly anticipated Poetry Series, says Beth Loffreda, MFA program director. Writer Nick Flynn says Lindenberg's poems try "beautifully, fiercely, heartbreakingly -- to fix a life into a handful of moments, beyond the flow of eternity."

Lindenberg's poetry, essays and other works have also appeared in The Believer, POETRY, Iowa Review, Quarterly West, Smartish Pace, DIAGRAM, Conjunctions, Mid-American Review, Denver Quarterly and Gulf Coast.

The recipient of a 2012 MacDowell Arts Colony Fellowship, Lindenberg, who currently lives in Logan, Utah, also won a 2011 National Endowment for the Arts Literature Fellowship, a 2009-2010 Provincetown Fine Arts Work Center Fellowship, and two Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Prizes. She holds a doctorate in literature and creative writing from the University of Utah.
