Mountain Film Festival is Oct. 4

Telluride’s Mountainfilm on Tour Festival will be shown at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, and at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Gryphon Theater in the Laramie Plains Civic Center, located at 710 E. Garfield St. A film for children can be seen at 1 p.m. Saturday. The showings are free and open to the public.

The University of Wyoming’s Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources hosts Mountainfilm on Tour.

Drew Ludwig, photographer and expedition leader, will present Mountainfilm on Tour, which informs and motivates audiences about environmental issues. The film topics will include cultural exploration, environmental preservation and adventure promotion.

The festival is a four-day event held each Memorial Day weekend in Telluride, Colo. For 35 years, Mountainfilm has attracted independent documentary filmmakers, artists and photographers, conservationists, mountaineers, scientists, journalists and explorers from around the world. The tour reaches some 30,000 people on five continents.
