Visiting Artists Discuss Painting and Installation Thursday at UW

November 5, 2014

Denver artists Hollis+Lana will discuss painting/installation as part of the University of Wyoming visiting artist series Thursday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. in the Visual Arts Building Room 111.

Connor Hollis and Amorette Lana make up Hollis+Lana, whose work has been displayed throughout the United States.

“Together, we build worlds and creatures from our collective imaginations that evoke a living existence, while having no existence in the physical world,” says Hollis+Lana. Their collaboration began with a shared studio.

Hollis moved to Denver in 1998 from New Orleans. He completed a BFA in sculpture in 2000 and a master’s degree in 2007 in urban planning with a focus on urban design. Hollis’s work as an artist is influenced by his study of urban design; he focuses on the concepts of civilization and urbanity and the implications for humanity in conjunction with the natural world.

Lana, a Denver native, graduated from the University of Colorado in 2007, where she studied draftsmanship and sculpture. Raised in a creative environment, she is adamant about finding opportunity for exploration and play for the mind.
