UW Transit Services Available for Sanders Campaign Event

April 4, 2016

People planning to attend Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders’ Tuesday evening appearance at the University of Wyoming are encouraged to take advantage of UW transit services.

Security measures will be in place for the Sanders campaign event.

Doors will open at 5 p.m. in the College of Arts and Sciences Auditorium, near the west end of campus. The Sanders campaign has not publicly indicated at what time the candidate will speak.

Parking is available in multiple lots across and near campus; parking permit restrictions will not be enforced for the UW lots after 5 p.m. The UW Campus Commuter provides service from the east Express Lot at 30th Street and Willett Drive and will drop off passengers at the Classroom Building -- not far from the A&S auditorium -- every 10 minutes until 6:30 p.m. From 6:30-10:30 p.m., the Campus Commuter will operate with a 30-minute schedule.

Details about the Campus Commuter may be found at For details about parking lot locations, go to

A shuttle for people with disabilities to access the A&S auditorium will be available starting at 4 p.m. The shuttle will be staged in the northern section of UW’s Ivinson parking lot near the intersection of Grand Avenue and 10th Street.

Meanwhile, UW Police Chief Mike Samp says those who plan to attend the event are requested to not bring bags or backpacks. Large purses may be searched.

Everyone entering the auditorium is subject to being searched. No weapons, including pocket knives, will be allowed in the facility.

Seating in the A&S auditorium will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis.
